DRDO:

           Reference No:ERIPR/ER/1203036/M/01/1466

ABSTRACT

Citrus sinensis extract was used for the treatment of wound in rat in 3 different models. Wound healing study was evaluated through invivo and invitro analysis. In vivo wound assays includes incision, excision and deadspace wound models. Above 90% of wound contraction observed on 12th day with 5% w/w Citrus sinensispeel based ointment. The complete healing observed on 16th day with 5% w/wCitrus sinensispeel extract and 18th day in 10% w/wCitrus sinensispeel extract, compare to nitrofurazoneCitrus sinensispeel had effective action against excision wound model. Incision wound model represents higher granuloma and breaking strength in Citrus sinensispeel extracts compare to reference ointment application. Dead space wound model rats represent tensile strength of wound more in 5% w/w Citrus sinensispeel compare to control group.
